Troubleshoot Discrepancies Between METRC and Marijuana Software
If a package count or sales history doesn’t match between METRC and Marijuana Software, compare the sales recorded for the specific package in both systems. Use the steps below to locate the same package, view its recorded sales, and pinpoint where the difference is coming from.
1  •  Find Package Sales in Marijuana Software
a. Go to the Products page.
b. Search for the package by Batch # (example: 0909), then click the arrow to the right of the Batch # to open Package Details.
c. On the Package Details page, click VIEW SALES to see all sales recorded for this package in Marijuana Software.
2  •  Find Package Sales in METRC
a. Log in to METRC.
b. Go to Packages and select the Active tab (or Inactive if the package has been archived).
c. Locate your package, click the arrow to the left of the package, then open the History tab.
d. Review the list of sales out of the package shown in the package history.
3  •  Compare the Two Lists
Line up the dates, quantities, and order IDs (when available) from Marijuana Software’s VIEW SALES page with METRC’s package History.
Ask: Are there sales or adjustments listed in METRC that are not listed in Marijuana Software? Or vice versa?
4  •  Resolve Common Differences
Case A METRC shows extra sales/adjustments not in Marijuana Software
• These were likely entered directly in METRC or via another system.
• Mirror the change in Marijuana Software: adjust the package quantity or add the missing sale/return as appropriate so counts align.
Case B Marijuana Software shows sales not in METRC
• Check the Upload Sales to METRC page for errors or queued sales and upload them.
• If you see “Not Authorized,” verify the employee’s METRC API key on their profile.
• If automatic reporting is off, enable it (or manually upload the pending sales).
Case C Quantities don’t match, but sales do
• Look for Adjustments, Transfers, or Package splits/merges in METRC history that weren’t mirrored in Marijuana Software, and reconcile with a matching adjustment.
Tips & Good Practices
Confirm you are viewing the correct facility and the correct package tag in both systems.
Check date ranges and time zones when comparing histories.
If a package is archived in METRC, remember to switch to the Inactive tab when reviewing history.
