Giving each budtender a personal METRC API key ensures every sale is stamped with the correct employee name in METRC. Complete the three quick sections below to set it up. |
1 • Create the Employee Account in METRC |

Log in to METRC as an administrator. |

Main menu → Admin > Employees → Add Employee. |
c. |
Fill in the employee’s information and check the Sales Management permission. |
d. |
Save. The employee can now log in to METRC directly. |
2 • Employee Generates Their API Key |
a. |
The employee logs in to METRC with their new credentials. |
b. |
Upper-right corner → click their Name ▼ → choose API Keys. |
c. |
Click Generate and copy the 52-character key. |
3 • Attach the Key in Marijuana Software |
a. |
Employee logs in to MarijuanaSoftwareLLC.com. |
b. |
Top-right → click the Profile button next to their username. |
c. |
Paste their METRC License # and the copied API Key into the matching fields. |
d. |
Click Save. |
4 • Verify Automatic METRC Reporting Is ON |
Store admin → Edit Account > METRC Settings → ensure Automatic METRC Reporting is toggled to ON. |
✅ From now on, every sale this employee completes will upload to METRC under their name. |
